Crux Nostra Gloria (The Cross Our Glory)
[Intro – Solemn Gregorian chant, tolling bells] Crucifixus est pro nobis… Sub Pontio Pilato passus et sepultus est (From the Creed) [Verse 1 – Slow, crushing doom riff, mournful clean vocals] Behold the Man of Sorrows, crowned with our shame, Nails through the hands that formed Adam from clay. He bore my rebellion, my pride, my lust, my lies, Every secret darkness dragged screaming to the skies. (Isaiah 53:5) [Pre-Chorus – Choir whispers] Peccata nostra ipse pertulit in corpore suo super lignum (1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree”) [Chorus – Soaring, anguished then triumphant] Crux nostra gloria! By Thy wounds we are healed! Crux nostra gloria! The serpent’s head is crushed beneath Thy heel! O Lamb who took my place, How shall I sin again in the light of such grace? [Verse 2 – Heavier groove, rising intensity] The sky turned black at noon, the temple veil was torn, “It is finished!” He cried as the ancient debt was borne. Death swallowed Death, the grave could not contain, The Prince of this world cast out, his kingdom broken chain. (John 12:31 / Colossians 2:15) [Verse 3 – Haunting lute + low monk chant] See from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down. Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown? [Bridge – Band drops to almost nothing; choir, slow and reverent] Consummatum est… It is accomplished. The devil is judged. Sin is atoned. The righteous requirement fulfilled in Him alone. [Breakdown – Brutal growls + soaring choir] NO MORE EXCUSES! NO MORE HIDING! He paid it all! Every lust, every lie, every cowardly fleeing! Look on the One we pierced and LIVE! [Final Chorus – Massive, victorious] Crux nostra gloria! O sinner, behold your King! Crux nostra gloria! The old man nailed, the new man sings! Because He bore my curse, I will not, I cannot, I dare not sin again! Crux nostra gloria sola! Soli Deo gloria! Amen! Amen! [Outro – Gregorian chant rises over fading clean guitar] Per lignum servi facti sumus, Et per sanctam crucem liberati sumus (By a tree we were made slaves, and by the holy cross we have been set free) Amen.
