The Angel and the Christmas Tree

V5

[Verse 1] It was Christmas Eve up at the Pole, Santa lost his jolly soul, Four elves sneezed, the toys were late, The sleigh was cracked, his mood — not great! Then Mrs. Claus said, “Honey dear, My mother’s coming, she’ll be here!” Poor Santa sighed, “Oh mercy me, This Christmas is pure misery!” [Chorus] Oh, Santa’s having one of those nights, Nothing’s going quite right, Till a tiny angel rang his bell, And said, “Merry Christmas, all is well!” She smiled so bright, so heavenly, And said, “I brought a Christmas tree! It’s such a lovely sight to see… Now where should I stick it, Santa?” [Verse 2] The toys went flying, elves took flight, The reindeer vanished in the night, Santa grumbled, stomped his feet, “This Christmas can’t be beat!” Then came that knock upon the door, He thought, “Oh no, what’s next in store?” But there she stood with haloed head, And here’s the very thing she said: [Chorus] “Oh Santa dear, don’t look so grim, I’ve brought a tree so tall and trim! It’s green and grand, just wait and see — Now where should I stick it, Santa?” [Bridge (spoken, comic timing)] Santa blinked… he scratched his beard, The situation felt… quite weird. Then suddenly, he had a plan — The legend started there, old man! [Final Chorus] So every year, for all to see, We top the starry Christmas tree, With an angel shining bright and free — And that’s where Santa said it’d be! She smiled so sweet, eternally, And said, “I brought a Christmas tree! It’s such a lovely sight to see… Now where should I stick it, Santa?”
