NDC Throwback Thursdays Genre: Pirate Rock / Sea Shanty Theme: Mythological Creatures ▶️ Lyrics On a silver tide where the moonlight bleeds We sailed through whispering, haunted seas A voice rose soft from the ocean’s swell Sweet as heaven, cold as hell The captain froze with a trembling hand No mortal song of sea or land Hold fast, ye dogs, don’t lose your mind For Sirens call the doomed and blind Hush now Keep yer wits Devil’s lullaby Oh sing no more, ye Sirens fair Your voices weave a drowning snare We plug our ears and curse the stars Lest we fall to the Song of the Drowned Stars Heave-ho Heave-ho Row or die Block yer ears, lads Fight the melody What lures a sailor to watery graves THE SIRENS SONG And what keeps a pirate from losing his soul RUM AND WILLPOWER Aye Stuff yer ears with tar and cloth Let the sea devils scream The bosun swore he saw their eyes Glowing pale beneath the rise Their voices curled like ropes of light Dragging hearts into the night One leap of faith, and men would drown Their wills undone, their senses down Steady the helm, the captain roared Or we’ll join the ghosts beneath the fjord Steady Hands on deck Don’t look at ’em Oh sing no more, ye Sirens fair Your voices weave a drowning snare We plug our ears and curse the stars Lest we fall to the Song of the Drowned Stars Heave-ho Heave-ho Bellow louder, lads Drown ’em out Hear no spell, hear no cry SIRENS WANT OUR SOULS TO DIE Hold the line, don’t drift afar KEEP YER EYE UPON THE STAR Sing louder than the demons, lads Make the sea itself tremble Heave-ho Heave-ho Beneath the waves their shapes arise With shimmering hair and wicked sighs But pirates know the ocean’s lies We sail with fire in our eyes Stand tall Sea witches They ain’t taking us Oh sing no more, ye Sirens dread We’ll hear no note that drags us dead For we sail through storms and break their bars Casting off the Song of the Drowned Stars Heave-ho Heave-ho To freedom Raise yer mugs We beat the sea devils
