Xiang Yu: The Hegemon-King

[Intro: Explosive War Drums and Piercing Suona Horn] [Verse 1] I am Xiang Yu, the Hegemon, the roar of ancient Chu (Xiang Yu!) Born with double pupils where the dragon spirits flew. I lifted up the sacred ding that no other man could sway To show the crumbling house of Qin I’ve come to take the day. I am the heavy mountain that the heavens cannot hold (The God of War!) A titan of the southern lands with a heart of iron gold. [Verse 2] At the banks of Julu River, I gave the cold command (No retreat!) To sink the boats and break the pots with my own heavy hand. Nine times we crushed their legions till the earth was stained in red I marched upon the palace gates with a crown upon my head. (Victory!) There was no wall I could not break and no army I would fear For the prowess of the Hegemon was screaming in their ear. [Verse 3] In the center of the slaughter, I found a gentle grace (Yu Ji!) In the eyes of Consort Yu Ji and the beauty of her face. You left the silken palaces to follow where I led With a sword held in your hand and the war-tent for a bed. (Pure devotion!) My hands were covered in the dust of cities turned to stone But with my lady Yu Ji, I was never truly alone. [Verse 4] The tides of fate turned black and cold at the gates of Gaixia (The trap is set!) The Han had trapped my army down beneath a dying star. From four sides in the midnight air a haunting sound arose The songs of Chu were being sung by thousands of my foes. (Songs of home!) I looked at my brave stallion Zhui and I looked at Consort Yu Ji Realizing that the gods of old had turned their backs on me. [Chorus: High Energy - Epic Choral Peak] My strength could pull the mountains down and shake the very sky (Farewell!) But the times are all against me now and Zhui will no longer fly. (My king!) Oh Consort Yu Ji, my beloved, what will become of you? She took my sword and danced a dance that split my heart in two. (The sacrifice!) She fell upon the cold-blue steel to set my spirit free And I howled her name, Yu Ji, in my final agony! (Yu Ji!) [Verse 5: Aggressive and Fast Paced] I roared into the morning mist and gathered who remained Twenty-eight brave horsemen with their spirits never stained. (The twenty-eight!) We broke the Han encirclement like a hammer through the glass To show the world one final time how a God of War would pass. I cut a path through thousands with the prowess of a king As the mountains and the valleys with my battle cry would ring! (Kill!) [Outro: Massive Climax - Fading into River Sounds] I reached the bank of Wu River where the water meets the sky I will not cross to Jiangdong just to save a life and lie. (Eight thousand sons!) I cannot face the fathers with this shame upon my brow I laugh into the face of death and I take my honor now. (The Hegemon!) By my own hand I fell to earth beside the river’s breath Xiang Yu, the King of Western Chu, a master even in death! (Xiang Yu! Xiang Yu!) [end]
