Subtraction

They trade faces like currency Smiles, preloaded, eyes Every word is a product pitch Every promise comes with the leak Hunger dressed up as culture Noise mistaken for belief The louder the chest beats The less there is underneath When comfort is crowned as truth And effort feels like abuse The mirror starts teaching lies And calling it proof shallow Waters, learned to swim In circles never deep When appetite says the law The animal keeps the seat Gold over gravity Image over thought A thinning age of reason The simplest nerve is taught Attention sold by the second Patients extinct by design Another outrage over reason Another sign of the times What takes time gets ignored What resists gets erased? Learning to consume Before Learning to create This isn’t collapsed by fire It’s erosion by ease Slow surrender to comfort Disguise as being free So it moves on auto pilot From signal to reaction Till the last question Feels like an act of subtraction
