Come On Home - Christmas with Yalida

The kids are finally asleep upstairs The stockings hung, the tree lit up I set a plate beside your chair And kept the dinner warm enough The radio has played the songs The kind we danced to years ago I pull your sweater off the chair And hold it, till you walk through the door Come on home, come on home A stocking waits for you I kept a spot beside me Just for us two Come on home, come on home The road's been long for you Merry Christmas, my love I've kept a spot just for you The clock is ticking, midnight near I hear the footsteps on the stair But it's just the wind around the eaves I smile and brush away a tear I know the drive was long today The highways frozen, slick and slow But keep your eyes upon the road I'll keep the fire burning low Come on home, come on home A stocking waits for you I kept a spot beside me Just for us two Come on home, come on home The road's been long for you Merry Christmas, my love I've kept a spot just for you No matter how far the world may roam There's only place I want to be Right here, beside the Christmas tree Waiting patiently Come on home, come on home The porch light's on for you I kept a spot beside me Just for us two Come on home, come on home Whatever the road may do Merry Christmas, my love I'm coming home to you Door creaks... welcome home, my love...
