[Verse 1] [Man] Girl, did you hear that scratch in the wall? It came from the hall when the house went still [Girl] Don’t play tough, I heard it too Like nails on wood and a laugh that chills [Man] Something moves where the plaster bends Heavy steps when the porch light dies [Girl] And that smell in the damp air now Rotten breath with a thousand eyes [Man] Keep your hand on my sleeve right here Cold touch just brushed the back of my neck [Girl] I felt it too when the floorboard sighed Like an angry soul came up from the wreck [Man] Halloween brings the hungry ones The ones that wait in the blackened seams [Girl] And when we blink, they crawl on in To haunt our rooms and poison dreams [Pre-Chorus] [Man] Shh, listen now That laugh is close [Girl] It’s in the wall It’s in the throats [Man] Chains in the dark Sway by themselves [Girl] Don’t look too long They want our breath [Chorus] [Both] Dark night, don’t let them near Dark night, I feel them here In the wall, in the dark They grin, they bite, they tear [Both] Dark night, cold hands crawl Dark night, hear that call Halloween, hold us tight Or they’ll come for us tonight [Verse 2] [Girl] I saw a shape by the closet door Tall and bent with a crooked stare [Man] I heard its mouth make a broken sound Like evil laughter split the air [Girl] Under the bed, there’s a pair of eyes Blinking slow in the dust below [Man] And the blinds keep tapping out warnings Like bones on glass in a stop-and-go [Girl] The spirits come when the dream goes thin They knock real hard on the inside wall [Man] Then the room gets cold and the candles lean Like something angry just made us small [Girl] I’m frustrated, I can’t shake this fear It follows close when the black comes in [Man] Then stay right here, let it pass us by We survive the night if we don’t give in [Pre-Chorus] [Man] Hear that sigh? That ain’t the wind [Girl] No, that’s the dead Coming back again [Man] Rattling chains Behind the frame [Girl] Say my name Say my name [Chorus] [Both] Dark night, don’t let them near Dark night, I feel them here In the wall, in the dark They grin, they bite, they tear [Both] Dark night, cold hands crawl Dark night, hear that call Halloween, hold us tight Or they’ll come for us tonight [Bridge] [Man] If the door shakes now, don’t open it [Girl] If it speaks our names, don’t answer back [Man] There’s a demon grin in the rafters there [Girl] And a shadow foot on the ceiling track [Man] But I’ve got your pulse in my palm right now [Girl] And I’ve got your voice like a silver thread [Man] Let them howl at the window glass [Girl] We stay in the light of the words we said [Both] Back up, back up You don’t own this room Back up, back up We’re walking through [Chorus] [Both] Dark night, don’t let them near Dark night, I feel them here In the wall, in the dark They grin, they bite, they tear [Both] Dark night, cold hands crawl Dark night, hear that call Halloween, hold us tight Or they’ll come for us tonight
