“Hellbent, Broke, and Smashed.”

V4.5+

I am an old man. My boots are worn; They show my bare feet, calloused and dirty. My voice spits gravel - a lifetime of nicotine. With nihilistic eyes I see all but heed no belief. I hold my women in the eves. The morning (morphine) horse it enters me. Takes me for…… my morning glory….. I’m halfway stoned……..halfway horny. My grave is the only ladybug Waiting patiently (with my drug….) I come closer, to her (“o-I-n”…) I know I can’t escape The hours I’ve trashed. Hellbent, Broke, and Smashed. A feeling I know I can’t fake. You put your arms around me, say you’re so happy you found me- But loving me is a mistake. I don’t care. I’m not really here. And I will not be there. **^* the opinions - The talk of the town Your Johnny-Come-Latelys and all’a my crazy won’t mix. They’re all self-righteous -“aesthetics”, live high in their antebellums as castles (as high as I’ll get , after I had me a hit….) With talk and hair slicked. You see me around - only when you look down …. I come closer to her(“o-i-n”) again, I know I can’t escape . The houses I’ve trashed, Hellbent broke and smashed; a feeling I know I can’t take. You wrap your legs around me say you’re so happy you found me - But loving…me….I’d say, is a mistake. Give me the finger say you don’t need me neither. I wouldn’t linger if I were you. Too many drinks, and too many (chain links and long thinks) years in the slammer, no tellin’ what I might do. Throw your tab on the bar, get in your fancy new car …. I come closer to her (o-I-n-), I know I can’t escape- The hours I’ve trashed Hellbent, Broke, and Smashed. A feeling that I can’t forsake. You put your loving arms around me, darling…. But…..loving me, my lady, is a mistake…. Forget you ever saw me, lose my number don’t call me, today’s not the day. Withdrawals giving me the shakes. Cigarette and the pull- the only thing that pulled me through ……. ….Those long nights in county…where Time, crawled ……so …..slowly …… You came to see me- gave me a knowing look. Talked to me through- a glass window, bulletproof- Said I told you so. Got up and saddled your high horse. (If I had a dollar, I bet I’d be high on horse, too.) I come closer to her, closer than any, and I know I can’t escape- my fate, honey, and all of those lonely hours I’ve Ashed in the tray, all of those hours I’ve trashed. Hellbent, strung out, Broken and Smashed now…. A feeling I knew was too much for you to take. You put your arms around me, say you’re so happy you found me……. ….. You led me to the water, and I drank. U
