Echoes on a Marble Blue
Lying on my back, spine to old concrete, Moon tangled in antennae, tangled in me, Each window flickers, a galaxy close and cold, I’m one face lost, in stories never told. I count satellites, silent and neat, They don’t blink back... am I obsolete? Sky so vast, I forget my name, Swallowed whole by the spinning game. Gravity, just a rumor tonight, my voice takes flight, Would the universe miss a single spark of light? We’re all echoes on a marble blue, Chasing meaning in the residue, Billions of wishes tangled in the dew, I’m nothing, you’re nothing... maybe that’s true, but look at the sky, and it’s everything too. (Ooh, everything too) Streetlight halos on puddles below, My reflection’s broken, but I let it show, Breathing in the diesel rain, I make a wish I can’t explain, What’s a hundred years, or one regret? The universe hasn’t noticed yet. But in the dark, I spark... don’t forget. "Does anyone matter, when the stars are right?" I laugh, I cry, I crack, I hum, Somewhere in the spiral, I become undone. Bits of me lost in cosmic foam, But wasn’t I searching for a way back home? How many suns will swallow mine? Would you remember this soft design? If I vanish, am I less real? A blip, a flicker, something to feel... So spin me around the sun again, I’ll burn, I’ll fade, I’ll love, I’ll mend, If I’m just dust, drifting through... Tonight, that feels enough.
