NØVA – Between Lights
I got everything I said I wanted Now it feels heavier than I thought it would Smiles feel different when they’re wanted And not because they understood They call my name like it’s a habit Like I’m a moment they can package But I don’t feel as untouchable When I’m alone in all this damage It used to feel like flying higher Now it just feels like endless wire Pulling tighter every desire Until I forget what I was prior If I stop shining for a second Do I disappear, or just become something different? If I’m not the version they expect it Who am I underneath it? I used to think the light was freedom Now I see how it can cage you Every cheer, every “they need you” Starts to sound like I don’t belong to me too I used to think I’d never question The shape of all my reflection But even gold can lose direction When it’s only made for attention I built a world out of perception Now I can’t tell where I begin in it Every version of me they mention Feels like someone I’m not living in There’s beauty in the rise I climbed But also noise I left behind And I can’t tell if I’m still fine Or just too far from real this time If I stop performing the story Would anything stay, or just ignore me? If I’m not what they adore me for Do I still exist anymore? I used to think the light was freedom Now I see how it can cage you Every cheer, every “they need you” Starts to sound like I don’t belong to me too I used to think I’d never question The shape of all my reflection But even gold can lose direction When it’s only made for attention But maybe I’ve been hearing it wrong… Maybe the silence isn’t empty Maybe it’s where I belong When I’m not being someone Maybe I don’t need to vanish To understand what I have is Something more than what they managed To turn into a package I don’t need to be the brightest anymore to be real I don’t need their eyes just to know what I feel If I step out of the glow, I won’t disappear I’ll finally be here I don’t think the light is something I chase or survive It’s something I carry when I’m fully alive And maybe for the first time, it’s not in their eyes It’s in mine
