[Intro] [Humming] (hand to hand) (round and round) [Verse 1] [Intimate] We came up through the forest on the last October night, the blue flowers glowing in the loam, every one in black, and every one a light she never meant to carry home. She stood there in the middle with her arms held open wide, her eyes shut and her face turned to the moon, she never asked for anything, she only stood inside the ring we drew in amber, root by root. [Pre-Chorus] [Building] And the first one gave her violet, and the next one gave her gold, and she couldn't see a single flame, but she felt them, warm and whole. [Chorus] [Soaring] Lit from every hand, lit from every hand, fire given in the circle finds its way around again, violet on the left, amber on the right, she is lit from every hand tonight. [Verse 2] [Hushed] You don't need your eyes to know a gift when it is given, you know it by the warmth across your palm, the old ones knew it too, they turned the year on giving, the dark half and the bright half, arm in arm. And she'll hold it just as long as it takes to pass it on, that's the only way a flame stays bright, somebody in the dark is waiting for the dawn, and every spark we gave was given us one night. [Bridge] [Stripped back] So if you're standing in the middle with your eyes shut tight, afraid you came with nothing in your hands, just open them, that's all, and wait inside the light, the circle always finds the one who stands. [Rising energy] And when your hands are warm enough to spare, turn to the one who's shivering beside you, and give it like it came to you, from somebody who cared. [Final Chorus] [Harmonies] [Soaring] Lit from every hand, (every hand) lit from every hand, (every hand) fire given in the circle finds its way around again, violet on the left, amber on the right, she is lit from every hand, we are lit from every hand, you are lit from every hand tonight. [Outro] [Fading] (hand to hand) (round and round) the fire goes on. [End]
