Everybody sees my face, but no one sees inside, I smile out of habit, with a war I always hide. Walking through these streets, just a shadow on the ground, Carrying the weight of a heart without a sound. Every word I have gets trapped inside my throat, Every sleepless night, another silent note. If somebody asks me if I'm doing fine, I just say, "I'm okay"... and keep the truth as mine. Time keeps moving, but I still don't know, How much farther I've got left to go. I always end up in the same old place, Four empty walls, the only ones I face. I lock the door around my heart, 'Cause fear keeps tearing me apart. If somebody tries to get too close, I hide behind the words I never chose. When the night is all that's left to see, Only I know what this silence means to me. I learned too young to hide the pain, To wear a smile through pouring rain. Every scar became another shield, A heart that never learned to heal. It's not that I don't need someone, I just forgot how trust is done. While the whole world learns to let love in, I'm still fighting battles deep within. Maybe someday I'll find the strength, To let someone see who I am at length. Without the fear of breaking down, Or letting all my walls fall to the ground. I always end up in the same old place, But maybe now it's time to change. If there's someone willing to stay, Maybe I'll let the silence fade away. 'Cause no one was ever meant to live alone, With every feeling carved in stone. And even a soul that's been alone so long... Still deserves a place where it belongs.
