πŸ’« Jalorado the Fire Dragon

Pyra The Land of the Fire Dragons There are mountains whose deepest depths glow with a red light. There are black rocks warmed by ancient fires. There are rivers that shimmer with warmth and golden light in some places. And there are forests whose leaves, in the evening light, seem to glow from within. Yet Pyra is not a land of eternal fire. That is the first secret of the Fire Dragons. Fire does not mean destruction. To the Fire Dragons, fire means: Life. Warmth. Courage. Change. Renewal. And the power to let something new emerge from something old. This is also why the Fire Dragons in our story share something with the ancient traditions surrounding Asian dragons. In many Asian traditions, dragons are not evil monsters. Rather, they represent powerful forces of nature, protection, good fortune, fertility, and the connection between heaven, water, and earth. (The Metropolitan Museum of Art) The Fire Dragons of Pyra have developed their own wisdom from this: β€œA power is neither good nor evil. What matters is what you choose to use it for.” ──────── The Family of Jalorado Jalorado comes from an ancient family of Fire Dragons. His father is named Pyrion. He is large and impressive and possesses a fiery power that is rare even in Pyra. But that is not what makes Pyrion a good Fire Dragon. His true strength is something else: He knows when to use his fire. And when not to. Jalorado’s mother is named Flamara. She is warm-hearted, wise, and a guardian of the ancient knowledge of fire. She knows the ancient paths. The signs in the sky. The language of flames. And she knows that every young dragon must eventually find its own path. Jalorado also has siblings. And here begins one of the most important rules of the Fire Dragons: Young Fire Dragons do not stay with their parents forever. When they have grown strong enough, they set out into the world. Not because their family does not love them. Quite the opposite. Precisely because they love them. For eventually, every Fire Dragon must discover: Who am I? What is my special gift? What can I give to the world? And where is my own place? ──────── Why Fire Dragons Sleep So Much Now you may understand why Jalorado sleeps so much. Young Fire Dragons need sleep not merely to rest. While they sleep, something very special happens within their bodies and within their inner fire. Their scales grow. Their horns develop. Their wings become stronger. Their senses become more refined. And deep within them, something begins to form that the Fire Dragons call the Fire Core.
