"Goats in the Yard Again" Ver 2
[Spoken Intro] "Now listen… I’ve seen some strange things in my life, but nothin’ prepares a man for wakin’ up, lookin’ out his window, and seein’ twenty goats and one confused donkey holdin’ a committee meeting in my backyard. So I did what any Southern man would do… I grabbed my boots, said a prayer, and stepped into the battlefield." [Verse 1] Well I walked out back with my mushroom tea in hand And the goats were runnin’ wild like they owned my land One was on the woodpile, one chewin’ on a can And the little brown‑and‑white one head‑butted my trash can [Verse 2] They were chompin’ through the ivy like a four‑legged crew Looked me dead in the eyes like, “We’re workin’, what about you?” And the boss goat strutted past me like he paid the rent While another tried to climb my truck like it was heaven‑sent [Chorus] There’s goats in the yard again Chewin’ up everything I’ve ever been They’re jumpin’ on logs and eatin’ my fence And givin’ me looks that don’t make no sense Yeah, goats in the yard again Lord help me, where do I begin [Instrumental Break] [Fast Fiddle Solo] "Maaaa-aaa-aaa!" "Maaaa!" "Maaaa-aaa!" [Verse 3] One goat squared up like he wanted to fight Another did parkour just to show off his might And the smallest one — that scrappy little clown — Did a victory lap after knockin’ me down [Chorus] There’s goats in the yard again Chewin’ up everything I’ve ever been They’re jumpin’ on logs and eatin’ my fence And givin’ me looks that don’t make no sense Yeah, goats in the yard again Lord help me, where do I begin [Bridge] [Group Shout] "HEE-HAW! HEE-HAW!" [Resume Vocals] Now I ain’t sayin’ they’re evil, but they sure ain’t right They’ll stare into your soul in the middle of the night And if Charlie Daniels saw this circus I’m in He’d grab his fiddle and say, “Boy, play it again!” [Final Chorus] There’s goats in the yard again Chewin’ up everything I’ve ever been They’re runnin’ the place like they’re my next of kin And I swear they’re plannin’ somethin’ with a devilish grin Yeah, goats in the yard again And tomorrow… they’ll do it all again [Spoken Outro] "Well… I reckon that’s it for me. I tried chasin’ ’em, bribin’ ’em, reasonin’ with ’em… but these goats don’t negotiate with humans. They’ve eaten my fence, claimed my truck, and I’m pretty sure one of ’em just filed paperwork to be the new landlord. So if y’all come by lookin’ for me… I’ll be inside, drinkin’ my mushroom tea, while the goats run the yard like a tiny, horned government. And honestly… I think they’re doin’ a better job than I ever did." [End] "Maaaa!"
