Scarecrow
I wake up in the corn, Everything looks the same. Rows stretching out forever... Can't remember how I got here, Can't remember anything. The sky is getting dark... There was something on the news, Couple months back. Woman escaped from a cornfield, Said there were bodies, Dressed up like scarecrows. They never found him... Oh god... Oh god no...! I start running. Left, right, Every row looks the same. The corn is too tall, I can't see over it... Can't see out... I see one up ahead, Scarecrow on a post. Get closer... The smell hits me first. Clothes rotting, Face rotting, This was a person... I run... Another one, And another. How many are there!? How long have they been here...? The rows go on forever... Which way is out?! Which way did I come from...? Everything looks the same... Wait... Movement... That one's moving... They're alive! Someone's alive, Tied to the post. Struggling... I can help them! We can get out together! I run to them, Almost there... They're trying to speak through the gag. Eyes wide... So wide... Reaching for the ropes, Just need to untie them. We can make it out... We can... Something cold... In my side... I look down... Red spreading across my shirt... Look up... The scarecrow is smiling...! Not tied up. Never was... Arms were just hanging. Waiting... The whole time... Watching me... Run... Panic... Run to him... My legs won't work anymore... The corn is so tall... I can see stars now... Through the stalks... Someone's humming behind me... My arms feel heavy... [The Killer] Arms go here. Straw in the sleeves. Rope around the wrists. Hat goes on top. One more for the field.
