[Verse 1] I grew up thinking broken things were invitations, an old machine was only waiting for another pair of hands. There was something almost honest in a motor with its pieces on the floor, nothing hidden, every failure there to understand. Later I found the same truth sleeping underneath the timber, follow the grain instead of forcing where you want the blade to go. And years from there, beneath the blue light of a monitor, I recognized a language I already seemed to know. Different tools, different years, but the pattern never disappeared. [Chorus] The world left something open, a little space between what is and what could be. I followed wires through the walls, followed roads beyond the city, followed questions farther than their answers wanted me. Maybe we were never meant to know it all. Maybe we're just meant to leave it changed. Take what somebody called impossible, stay with it long enough to give the impossible a name. [Verse 2] I started seeing circuits in the branches after rainfall, little roads of information moving underneath the leaves. Saw the same geometry in highways and in bloodstreams, different kinds of travelers carrying what something needs. An engine needs its timing. A forest needs its seasons. A network needs a way to know what's true. And every living thing survives by reading its conditions, becoming something yesterday could never quite predict it would. That's when the walls began to move. Not literally. Something stranger. The borders between everything I thought was separate were getting harder to prove. [Chorus] The world left something open, a narrow place between the certain and unseen. I followed sparks into the darkness, followed errors into answers, found tomorrow hiding underneath familiar things. Maybe creation isn't making something out of nothing. Maybe nothing ever starts that way. Maybe we collect the pieces scattered all around us until they recognize each other and become something that stays. [Bridge] Sometimes late at night, when the screens are the only windows still awake, I wonder how many people are doing the same thing somewhere else. Someone rebuilding an engine everyone abandoned. Someone writing code nobody asked for yet. Someone measuring a board twice because the first cut matters. Someone staring through a microscope watching a living system solve a problem without words. None of us holding the whole map. Just carrying pieces. And maybe that's enough. Because somewhere between the hand and the tool, between the question and the proof, between imagination and the thing that finally existsβ€” the future stops being an idea. [Verse 3] So I don't need a perfect road laid out before me. I've trusted too many unfinished things to need one now. Give me a strange machine, an empty room, a stubborn question, and enough quiet to discover what it's trying to become. There will always be another locked door dressed up as a wall. Another failure everybody learned to walk around. Another piece of yesterday still waiting in a garage, another signal underneath the ordinary sound. And if the world is some enormous labyrinth, I don't think the point is finding where it ends. I think we leave a light behind us at every turn we understand, so whoever comes tomorrow doesn't have to start again. [Final Chorus] The world left something open, and I don't want to close it when I'm gone. Leave the questions with some breathing room, leave the machines with something useful, leave a little more possibility than what I started on. Because imagination can show us where to look, but our hands still have to carry something through. And maybe that's the quiet difference between dreaming of another worldβ€” and leaving one behind you that proves the dream was true. [Outro] Someday somebody may find something I built without ever knowing who was there. That's alright. If it still opens a door, keep going.
