A Fistful of Sand (Post-Scarcity Society)
[Verse 1] They built the walls around the grains, Counted each, within their keep. Marked ev'ry playing piece as “mine,” or "yours" Drew battle-lines, locked gains behind doors. [Verse 2] And for a time, it held in place, Every handful stayed in its space. Measured, priced, and neatly stored— Ev'ry single grain of sand, accounted for. [Pre-Chorus] But winds began to move between, Through every crack they couldn’t see— A million hands reached out at once… Trying to be free. [Chorus] And the tighter they gripped, The more it slipped away. Every grain they tried to keep Found another way. Right through their sticky fingers, Cascading from their hands— You can’t hold in an iron fist The shifting of the sands. [Verse 3] The tools appeared, in full daylight, Shared ev'ry day, they toiled through night. For every voice can shape the flow, And every mind will learn and grow. [Verse 4] What once was scarce flowed like a stream, What once controlled, reduced to dreams. Copies made at near no cost— Little remained, still nothing lost. [Pre-Chorus 2] They closed their grip, they raised the walls, But pressure only breaks the small— And together, we're not small at all… [Chorus] So the tighter they gripped, The less there was to claim. As ev'ry grain they claimed to own Refused to take their name. Right through their sticky fingers, Through ev'ry failed command— We learned this lesson long ago, Can’t cage the living sand. [Bridge – shift to resolution] But with an open, steady hand, Something different starts it's plans. Not control—support of something grown, Not possession—just a home. [Break – soft realization] Support the founding soil, my friends. Don’t try to fight the flow. Let it gather where it will— Let it grow. [Final Chorus – lift] When they stopped trying to hold the sand, Just let it rest instead— Then ev'ry grain found place again, As gently, roots were spread. In the open skies above, Across the fruiting land— This is where the grassroots grow That firmly hold the sand. [Outro] Not by force of will… Not by dropping names… But by merely letting go Of any need to stake a claim.
