Higher Ways (The Peace That Holds Me)

Contemporary Gospel Fusion, Soulful, R&B influence, Choir Backing, Piano and Hammond B3 Organ, Mid-t

(Intro)
[Piano Solo - Melodic and Soft]
[Soft Organ Swell]
(Male Ad-lib): Yeah, we trust You, Lord. Your ways are higher.
(Female Ad-lib): So much higher.

(Verse 1)
[Male Lead - Soulful and calm]
Don’t be anxious for a thing, let worries fade
In every prayer with thanks, let requests be made
For the Lord Himself, He goes before you now
He will never leave you, keep His holy vow

(Verse 2)
[Female Lead - Warm and reassuring]
He will not forsake you, do not be afraid
The peace of God will guard the promises He made
My flesh may fail, my heart may feel so weak
But God is my strength, the portion that I seek

(Chorus)
[Duet - Male and Female Unison then Harmony]
For Your thoughts are not my thoughts, You’re far above
Your ways are higher, wrapped in perfect love
[Choir joins - Rich Harmony]
As the mountains round Jerusalem surround
So the Lord protects the people He has found

(Verse 3)
[Male Lead]
He restores my soul, in righteousness I tread
By the quiet waters, my spirit is led
[Female Lead]
Whatever strangers roam, You count them in Your plan
You’re building up a temple, inside of every man

(Chorus)
[Duet - High Energy]
For Your thoughts are not my thoughts, You’re far above
Your ways are higher, wrapped in perfect love
[Choir - Power Vocals]
As the mountains round Jerusalem surround
So the Lord protects the people He has found

(Bridge)
[Tempo slows down slightly, building intensity]
[Alternating lines]
(Male): He makes it beautiful, in His own time
(Female): Eternity in hearts, a rhythm and a rhyme
(Male): Faith is the substance of the things we hope for
(Female): The evidence of things, behind the open door
(Together): Not as the world gives, peace I leave with you
(Choir): Let your heart be still, His word is always true!

(Guitar Solo - Blues/Jazz Fusion style)

(Chorus)
[Full Choir and Leads - Maximum Energy]
For Your thoughts are not my thoughts, You’re far above
Your ways are higher, wrapped in perfect love
As the mountains round Jerusalem surround
So the Lord protects the people He has found!

(Outro)
[Music fades to just Piano]
(Female): He restores my soul...
(Male): He is my strength and my portion...
(Together): Forever...
[Final Chord Ring out]
