Tudor Rickards' 'This is our Globe' by GM Jon
The Earth is round as everybody knows Why argue otherwise and come to pointless blows? I’ll say it’s spherical without preamble I’ll give you ten to one if you’re prepared to gamble I say it’s flat. I’ll take your crazy bet No risk at all, my safest wager yet And if I’m wrong, I’ll even eat my hat Poor foolish friend of mine. The Earth is flat On sea and shore the endless battles wage Sisters and brothers split in helpless rage No future hope on ocean or on land Until that ‘either or’ becomes ‘both and’ From Pole to Pole we must improve our case Calling support from all the human race Until we see the pieces and the whole The Earth is flat and round from Pole to Pole This is our globe, both mighty and so small Countless in riches, and not rich at all. Poorest of cloth and richest princely robe Cannot conceal the truth: this is our Globe.
