When the day goes bad around you too tight, too dark, too loud. With a heat you cannot carry, Just slip out of the crowd. Don’t leave a note behind you, Don’t make a single sound. Just take a breath for yourself and go to ground. This old world isn’t going anywhere as it spins round and round Sometimes to make it through you gotta settle down. There are times to push and times to run and times to go to ground. When you’ve tried your hand at hoping, Thinking you might be ready again. Put on your best and waited, but the night won’t let you win. The quiet feels colder than winter, like the world just turned you down. Pull your heart in closer to your chest and go to ground. This old world isn’t going anywhere as it spins round and round Sometimes to make it through you gotta settle down There are times to push and times to run and times to go to ground. Lay there for a while and let your bones soak in You’re down, not out, so rest a bit Before you start again Whatever’s on your mind can sit still for a spell The best advice you’ll get it's a good thing that you fell. This old world isn’t going anywhere as it spins round and round Sometimes to make it through you gotta settle down There are times to push and times to run and times to go to ground. ‘Cause dark doesn’t last forever, Cold can’t keep its claim Sunrise comes, brings back your fire as you get back in the game You can’t lay down forever, not when the thaw comes around. So stand up slow and steady you’re ready… because you had the good sense, to go to ground.
