The afterlife ..squirrels

[Strings Intro] [Verse 1 – Squirrel #1] Hey Fred, you ever wonder ‘Bout the day we buy the farm? Like when the fox comes creeping Or a Buick does us harm? We spend our lives just scrambling Up and down these old oak trees But someday we’re crunchy snacks, Let’s face the truth with ease. [Verse 2 – Squirrel #2] Aw, Larry don’t be morbid, We got acorns still to stash. Sure a hawk might airlift me For a mid-morning munch-n-dash… But what if there’s a heaven For squirrels who tried their best? A cloud-lined tree with endless nuts, And zero predators’ interest? [Chorus – Both] In the afterlife, do we glide? Is there a branch on the other side? Do the angels toss us walnuts whole, Or feed our everlasting soul? If we’re destined for a fox’s bite .... At least we’ll go out squeakin’ right. One thing’s sure: we lived with style In these trees… for a little while. [Verse 3 – Squirrel #1] Now hold up ...... what if ...reincarnation Is just nature’s clever game? We come back as chipmunks, Or a deer with a fancy name. Or maybe as the eagle That once eyed us for a snack, Now we’re the ones circling overhead Planning a little payback. [Verse 4 – Squirrel #2] Or what if we get promoted To some big cosmic position? Like “Guardian of the Trail Mix” Or “Paytron Saint of Nutrition.” I’d watch over hikers’ backpacks And “accidentally” make ‘em spill… A handful of peanuts on the ground It’d be divine free will. [Bridge – Both, whispery/ethereal] Maybe fate’s a winding branch, Maybe life’s a leafy dance… Maybe time is just one long Squirrelly second-chance… [Final Chorus – Both] In the afterlife, do we fly? Do we get nine lives ... .. or at least just try? Do celestial trees have bark that glows Where the Great Nut River flows? If a fox gets lucky .......eh, that’s fine, We’ll meet again in the Big Pine. Till then we chatter, leap, and strive .. .. Two furry philosophers… Living the afterlife .....alive.
