you're not allowed to quit

V6

September is Suicide Awareness Month, and I wanted to put something out there for anyone who feels stuck in the dark. We all have moments where the pain feels heavy and the future is hard to see. But your existence belongs to you. You are not your worst day, and you don’t have to fight it alone. If you need someone to talk to, there are people ready to listen right now. In the US and Canada, you can call or text 988. In the UK, you can call 116 123. Here in Australia, you can reach Lifeline at 13 11 14. You are allowed to ask for help, but you’re not allowed to quit. ----------------------------------------- I think we need to talk about the silence. About the way the floorboards creak under the weight of an invisible isolation, About the days when the calendar looks like a threat, When the future is a fog so thick it chokes the light out of the living room. When the pain is a physical thing, sitting heavy on your chest. But listen to me: Your pulse is a protest! This existence is yours, it belongs to the blood in your veins. It doesn't belong to the failures. It doesn't belong to the rejections, or the heavy expectations they hung around your neck like stones! You are not your worst day! You are not the shadows creeping up the plaster! If the house is haunted by your own despair, you don't have to live with the ghosts. Sometimes self-preservation means taking a hammer to the walls, Sometimes it means packing a bag, walking out the front door, and driving until the radio loses the signal. Sometimes defending yourself means leaving the battlefield entirely. And sometimes! Sometimes it just means picking up the phone! Sometimes it means looking across the table and saying, "I am drowning, I need help!" Whatever the war is in your head, don't fight the phantom alone in the dark! You don't have to be the casualty! Change the room. Change the scenery. Reach out your hand in the pitch black. Start the conversation. This life is yours, and you're not allowed to quit.
