The tree
[Verse 1] One of those hot summer nights Walking near my house I noticed something that had never struck me before A lime tree The undersides of the leaves of this tree are silvery Not far from it There was a traffic light Red, orange, green The lights reflected on the underside of the leaves Giving colorful hues that blended with those of the tree Trembling Animated by a light breeze Vibrant purples, orange yellows, pale greens, a silent, vibrant firework display a few meters above the ground I was overcome with a feeling of beauty I stood there contemplating this urban miracle I got into the habit of coming back several summers in a row to see this spectacle I would stay for 20 minutes to an hour bathing in the strangeness of these lights Standing there leaning against a wall waiting for no one I heard somewhere that this was the definition of true power A few years later They redesigned the square and the lime tree disappeared But I still think about it And it always makes me smile with pleasure And today What's more It started singing
