I open up Your Word each morning Searching for a glimpse of who You are Sometimes all I find are little questions Sometimes You feel closer than my heart I’ve spent so long trying to find the answers Trying to see the road beyond today But maybe all You ever really wanted Was for me to trust You on the way Open up the eyes of my heart, Lord Teach me how to see the way You do Not just all the wonders of Your kingdom But the quiet ways You lead me closer to You I don’t need to see beyond the mountains I don’t need to know what lies ahead I just want to know You a little deeper And live the words that You have said When I read about Your grace and mercy And the inheritance You promise me Help me see the beauty of Your goodness In the little things I used to never see When I meet a heart that’s tired and hurting Let me see the soul You dearly love Let my hands become a little kindness Let my life reflect Your love above Open up the eyes of my heart, Lord Let Your wisdom settle deep in me Turn the words I read into a lifetime Of becoming who You made me to be And when I kneel before You in the silence With nothing left to ask or understand Let me simply rest here in Your presence Knowing I am safely in Your hands I don’t need a sign or special feeling I don’t need to hear You call my name Just the grace to love You more tomorrow And a heart that never stays the same Open up the eyes of my heart, Lord Let me know You more with every day Till the hope of Heaven fills my spirit And Your love becomes my only way When my journey reaches its last morning And these earthly eyes begin to close May the eyes of my heart behold You clearly Face to face, the One my soul has known And until that day, I’ll keep on walking With Your holy Word to light my way Learning how to love You in the ordinary Growing closer to You every day
