Death arrived upon my doorstep in the darkness of night as I slept, disturbing my peaceful slumber, when across the threshold he lumbered, his red eyes glowing, my heartbeat slowing, as his scythe created a jagged gash in the center of my chest, my belabored breaths becoming raspy and ragged, as the crimson blood began overflowing, my fear of the unknown showing, as I grasped his outstretched hand, obeying his command to stand before him, when in my angst, I uttered the briefest thanks, for it was in that moment I knew, there was nought that I could do to resist his invitation to join him, upon the cessation of my miserable existence, thus I obliged without resistance, for his demeanor, distinctly calm, gave me comfort, soothing my qualms, as together, beneath the moon we strode to his pale steed, upon which away we rode, to meet my final destination, in complete resignation, without any hesitation, the place of my creation, where I was welcome to wander and roam, as on that day I'd been called back home, forever my spirit soaring free, among the stars for all eternity.
