Title Salad #012 β Oct 2026 Β· Week 2
Playlist of past mixes: https://suno.com/playlist/f41cb4cc-5b2b-4a91-b774-6804afb8755c I've set up a series of parameters with ChatGPT to continue my Weekly Fusion experiment with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use these weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Feel free to try this with your own library! :) This week's prompt: dearest me let me be an ordinary thing crawling out a crack in the lattice kintsugi out of reach of wind and wilds Secondary name: "A Small Enough Life" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Intro β almost spoken, very close] Dearest me, I found a place where nothing needs me. I think I might stay. [Verse 1] I came through a crack in the lattice Where the light was too narrow to shine With a thousand small pieces of something I was certain had once been mine There were threads that had held me together There were knots I was frightened to loose And the spaces between them were wider Than the world I was trying to choose I had thought there'd be thunder When the last little filament broke But the morning went on without noticing And a sparrow sang once in the oak [Chorus β gently melodic] Let me be an ordinary thing A pebble in a stream A little patch of clover Where the bees come down to dream Let the wind go where it pleases Let the wilds reclaim their own I have carried enough of the world Let me carry myself home [Verse 2] There was gold in the cracks of my fingers There was gold running under my skin Every fracture had carefully mended Till I couldn't remember within Which of all of those shining divisions Had been broken and which had been made And I wondered if something was missing Or if this was the shape that remained I held up my hands to the daylight And watched all the bright little seams They were beautiful. I knew they were beautiful. But I was tired of being seen. [Chorus] Let me be an ordinary thing A stone beneath the rain A seed that doesn't know the name Of anything it's meant to gain Let the wind go where it pleases Let the wilds reclaim their own I have carried enough of the world Let me carry myself home [Verse 3 β quieter, unhurried] I found a small house by a hillside With a window that opened at dawn And a garden of stubborn white flowers That had grown where the pathway was gone There were cups with their handles all missing There were shelves that were crooked with age There was nothing that needed restoring Nothing waiting to turn a new page So I planted a sprig of rosemary In a pot with a crack down its side And I watered the soil in the evening And the water stayed mostly inside [Interlude β a few unaccompanied notes] Mostly. That was enough. [Bridge β gradually opening] And if someday the lattice comes calling With its terrible beautiful song If it tells me the world is unraveling And it asks where its pieces have gone I will show it the gold in my fingers I will show it the dirt on my knees I will tell it: I haven't forgotten. I remember what I used to be. But the cracks do not make me a doorway And the gold does not make me a key I was mended to live through the breaking Not to mend everything but me. [Final Chorus β warm, fuller, without urgency] Let me be an ordinary thing A cup upon a shelf A little patch of sunlight With no purpose but itself Let the wind go where it pleases Let the wilds reclaim their own I have carried enough of the world Let me carry myself home [Outro β returning to the intimate opening] Dearest me, The rosemary is growing. The window sticks when it rains. And sometimes when the morning comes the gold catches the light. I don't cover it. I don't show it. I make my tea. ... I think I'll stay.
