[Verse 1] Plastic cups in the grass your laugh on my sleeve Bare feet in the mud and a song we believed I still see your face in the smoke and the rain One wristband, one kiss and the whole town in flames [Pre-Chorus] We ran at the gate like the world was ours Hands to the sky under borrowed stars My heart hit the floor when the bass came in I knew that night would never end [Chorus] We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive (we were alive) Hands in the air don’t let it go Sing it back now let the whole crowd know We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive [Verse 2] Your name on my phone at the edge of the dawn Sand in my shoes and the fear was gone We danced on the roof of a parking lot train Swore we’d stay free even if it changed Your brother’s old car and the windows down low We chased that night like a runaway ghost [Pre-Chorus] We ran at the gate like the world was ours Hands to the sky under borrowed stars My heart hit the floor when the bass came in I knew that night would never end [Chorus] We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive (we were alive) Hands in the air don’t let it go Sing it back now let the whole crowd know We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive [Bridge] If I close my eyes I’m right back there With the night on fire and your name in the air Say it again like you used to do One more time I can feel you [Final Chorus] We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive (we were alive) Hands in the air don’t let it go Sing it back now let the whole crowd know We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive (we were alive) We were young, we were alive We were young, we were alive
