Wrong Place, Wrong Time

V5.5

I walked into the bank. I wasn't looking for money. I wasn't looking for trouble. I needed the toilet. The woman behind the counter pointed down the hall. I thanked her. Walked inside. Locked the door. Sat down. For a few minutes, everything was normal. Then I heard shouting. Someone was running. A voice came through the wall. I couldn't make out the words. Then something crashed. Then another sound. Then silence. I stayed where I was. I figured whatever was happening would be over soon. I had no reason to get involved. I just wanted to finish what I came in for. Then the footsteps came back. Fast this time. Someone ran past my door. I heard another voice. (Move) A second voice shouted something else. Then I heard the front doors slam. I looked down at the floor. A shadow stopped outside my cubicle. Then suddenly something was thrown over the wall. It landed right beside my feet. I looked down. Black bag. Heavy. I didn't touch it, Not at first. Then I heard the footsteps disappear. I picked it up. Wrong place. Wrong time. I should have stayed at home today. Wrong place. Wrong time. Now I've got somebody else's problem in my hands. Wrong place. Wrong time. I don't know who left it here. I don't know what's inside. Wrong place. Wrong time. And somehow I'm the one walking out with it. I waited for somebody to come back. Nobody did. The building had gone quiet. I opened the door. Looked down the hallway. Nobody there. I walked to the sink. Washed my hands. Looked at the bag again. I could have left it. I should have left it. But I didn't. I picked it up. Walked towards the exit. The doors opened. Cold air. Blue lights. People everywhere. Armed police. Weapons pointed straight at me. Someone shouted, DROP THE BAG. I stopped. Someone shouted again. I dropped it. Wrong place. Wrong time. I was just trying to use the toilet. Wrong place. Wrong time. Now I'm lying on the pavement. Wrong place. Wrong time. They're asking me where I got the money. I keep pointing at the building. Wrong place. Wrong time. Nobody seems to believe me. They asked me what happened. I told them. They asked me again. I told them again. They asked why I had the bag. I said, It was thrown into the cubicle. They looked at each other. One officer asked, Who threw it? I said, idon't know. He asked, What were you doing in there? I said, i was dropping the kids off They opened the bag. Money. Weapons. Everything from the robbery. Then the radio came through. They had found the suspects. Two streets away. The real robbers. The getaway car. The rest of the money. Apparently they threw the bag over the cubicle wall because they thought nobody was in there Wrong place. Wrong time. I didn't rob the bank. Wrong place. Wrong time. I didn't know who they were. Wrong place. Wrong time. I wasn't looking for trouble. Wrong place. Wrong time. I just needed the toilet. Wrong place. Wrong time.
