V1 The alarm goes off before it rings, Another morning my body sings In anxious chords I didn’t choose, Counting debts and counting dues. Cold air waiting at the door, Boots on tired hardwood floor, Lord, I’m not a giant of a man, Just doing the best I can. The coffee's black, the kitchen’s dim, I’m leaning hard on a prayer and a hymn. C I’m doing this for my Ladies, Every shift and every mile. For the laughter in the living room, For the hope in my youngest child. I’m doing this for my Ladies, Through the doubt and daily grind. And I’m allowed to be human while I do it, Heart and hands, imperfect, trying. V2 Mortgage papers on the table, Prayers half‑formed, but still they’re stable. Truth I wrestle late at night, Trying hard to hold it right. Sometimes strong and sometimes worn, Sometimes steady, sometimes torn. But love keeps showing up again, Even when I feel thin. Steel-toed grit and a weary soul, Just trying to keep this family whole. B If I fall, I’ll rise the same, Still a father, not a name. Not a verdict, not a score, Just a man who loves them more. The world might see a working man, But they see the heart behind the hand. V3 Dad, you don’t have to win, Just come home and sit with us. We don’t need a hero’s crown, We just need your love enough. So I’ll lay the heavy burden down, And find my peace on holy ground. Outro I’m doing this for my Ladies, Not to prove, but to stand. And I’m allowed to be human while I do it, Held by more than my own hands. Yeah, held by more than my own hands. Just a man... for my Ladies. [©2026 By Matthew E Treviño]
