[Gospel choir]Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem. (Verse 1) On the mountainside He took His place, His followers gathered, filled with grace. He opened up His holy mouth, And words of blessing echoed south. (Verse 2) "Blessed are the poor in spirit," He said, "For theirs the kingdom," overhead. "Blessed are those who deeply mourn, For comfort surely will be born." (Verse 3) "Blessed are the meek, who bow their will, The earth they'll inherit, standing still. Blessed are those who hunger deep, For righteousness, their souls to keep." (Chorus)[Gospel choir] He taught them love, a different way, To turn the cheek, and gently pray. Forgive your foes, let anger cease, And walk in righteousness and peace. (Verse 4) "Blessed are the merciful and kind, For mercy they themselves will find. Blessed are the pure in heart so true, For God Himself they'll surely view." (Verse 5) "Blessed are the peacemakers bold, For sons of God they shall be told. Blessed are those who face the scorn, For righteousness, a crown is born." (Verse 6) "You are the salt, the light of earth, To show the world its priceless worth. Let your good deeds shine bright and clear, That God's great glory may appear." (Chorus)[Gospel choir] He taught them love, a different way, To turn the cheek, and gently pray. Forgive your foes, let anger cease, And walk in righteousness and peace. (Verse 7) "Love your enemies," He did proclaim, "Bless those who curse you in My name. Do good to those who do you wrong, Be perfect, as your Father strong." (Verse 8) "Lay not your treasures here below, Where moth and rust will overthrow. But store your wealth in realms above, Where lasting joys and treasures love." (Chorus)[Gospel choir] He taught them love, a different way, To turn the cheek, and gently pray. Forgive your foes, let anger cease, And walk in righteousness and peace. (Outro) So hear His words upon the hill, Let grace your hearts and spirits fill. To live His teachings, day by day, And walk the blessed, righteous way.
