--- Still going with the grunge vibe . . . lol. Wanted to make something that was a bit more positive. In this case, that feeling when you try something and things just happen to "click". It's that moment that you feel good and that one good feeling keeps you coming back for more. In golf, it's that "one good shot" that you make. Wanted to capture that kind of idea and apply it to a song. A bit more "alt rock" than "grunge" perhaps, but every once in a while you have to go a bit more positive even if grunge is the style. :-) ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Music Build Up] [Verse 1] Went in thinkin’ I’d miss the mark Set the bar low, kept it in the dark Didn’t need hope, just needed a start Just wanted quiet, just wanted out Hands were shaky, heart half gone Didn’t think I’d last too long Told myself, “Don’t get attached” Just one more thing I’d let slip past [Pre-Chorus] Then somethin’ lined up I can’t explain For half a second, it felt the same Like muscle memory from another life Like I knew it once, like I knew it right [Chorus] All it took was one good try One clean moment passin’ by Hit it wrong a thousand times But that one… it stayed alive Now I’m chasin’ what I saw Tryin’ to get back to that spot Didn’t say I’d get it right But I know I’ve got one good try [Verse 2] Came back hungry, came back sore Chasin’ ghosts across the floor Every miss just fuels the fire Every fall just feeds the wire Friends say, “Man, it’s just a game” But they don’t feel it in their veins They don’t hear that quiet sound When somethin’ buried comes unwound [Musical Interlude] [Music Solo] [Pre-Chorus 2] It ain’t about winnin’, it ain’t about fame It’s knowin’ I’m not the same Since I felt that click, that spark Lit a match inside the dark [Chorus] All it took was one good try One clean moment passin’ by Hit it wrong a thousand times But that one… it stayed alive Now I’m chasin’ what I saw Tryin’ to get back to that spot Didn’t say I’d get it right But I know I’ve got one good try [Bridge] Maybe I’ll never pull it together Maybe it fades like the weather But I’d rather bleed for somethin’ real Than never know how it feels I missed some nights, I lost some time Traded comfort for a sign But if that moment wasn’t a lie Then maybe neither am I [Musical Interlude] [Music Solo] [Breakdown] [soft / acoustic] I don’t need perfect I don’t need clean Just need to know What I could be [Final Chorus] All it took was one good try One small truth I can’t deny I’m not great, but I’m alive And I saw the other side So I’ll take the hits, the cost Every line, every loss Didn’t say I’d get it right But I know I’ve got one good try [Outro] One good try That’s enough to keep me here [Musical Ending] [Fade Out] [End]
