Credo in Unum Deum (The Undeniable Creed)
[Intro – Massive Gregorian choir, tolling cathedral bells] Credo… Credo… Credo in unum Deum… [Verse 1 – Crushing mid-tempo march] From the upper room to the ends of the earth, Twelve men with scarred hands carried the second birth. Beaten, imprisoned, burned, and sawn in two, Yet every drop of blood denied what their tongues held true. [Pre-Chorus – Choir swells] Non possumus non loqui Quae vidimus et audivimus (Acts 4:20 – “We cannot but speak the things we have seen and heard”) [Chorus – Huge, anthemic] Credo! Credo! With my last breath I will stand! Credo! Credo! The ancient faith in blood-written hand! Though the world and the devil roar, This rock will never break: Credo in unum Deum… For Jesus’ sake! [Verse 2 – Faster, galloping] Nero’s torches, Domitian’s blade, Colosseum sand soaked crimson red, Yet every martyr sang the same unbroken song, The Creed that turned the dying into the forever strong. [Bridge – Entire band drops to almost nothing. Male choir alone, pipe organ, and distant bells only. The full Apostles’ Creed is sung straight through, slowly, reverently, like a battle standard being raised.] Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam æternam. Amen. [Final Chorus – Explosive return, everything at maximum, choir and guitars roaring] Credo! Credo! Till the heavens are rolled away! Credo! Credo! On the final judgment day! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, The Creed we died for is the Creed that raises us! Credo in unum Deum! Credo in Iesum Christum! Credo in Spiritum Sanctum! Amen! Amen! Deus vult! [Outro – Choir alone, fading into eternity] Credo… Credo… Amen.
