Verse 1 There has to come a time When you gotta let it go That dog won’t hunt And that boat won’t float You’re prayin’ every day Just tryin’ every way It’s hard to break it to you But God said no Verse 2 Yet that don’t mean Your life comes to an end At the bottom of a bottle Or lettin’ Satan win There’s promises made And checks to be paid So pull back the throttle And thumb through a friend Chorus It’s just been the wrong prayer For far too long You thought you were right But you heard Him wrong You kept askin’ for a road He already closed It’s hard to break it to you But God says no Verse 3 Decisions sometimes feel Like a life sentence Make us question what’s real And have to mend a fence Sometimes when we fall We’re lookin’ down Instead of lookin’ up From the cold hard ground Verse 4 And if you know who you’re Really lookin’ for He’ll show you the window When He shuts the door He’ll make sure there’s too much Still left in your cup But you gotta stop askin’ For what He won’t lift up Chorus It’s just been the wrong prayer For far too long You thought you were right But you heard Him wrong You kept askin’ for a road He already closed It’s hard to break it to you But sometimes God says no Bridge You can call it a promise You can call it your cross But holdin’ what He’s taken Only adds to the cost There’s a time to stay faithful And a time to let go And sometimes the answer Is still gonna be no Final Chorus It’s just been the wrong prayer For far too long You thought you were right But you heard Him wrong You kept askin’ for a road He already closed It’s hard to break it to you But sometimes God says no It ain’t that He don’t love you It ain’t that He ain’t there You’ve just been prayin’ too long It's just the wrong prayer Outro There has to come a time When you gotta let it go That dog won’t hunt And that boat won’t float it won't always be but God said NO!
