Jimbo’s Gaping Hole

V4.5-ALL

Jimbo's Lament Verse 1 I once was a frog who would run and play, But then one day everything changed. A joke got too far out of hand, And I got trapped in a horror land. My frog friends Frank and Stewed too, Chose something that I just couldn't do. They played a joke at Steevee's expense, The reason why didn't make any sense. He said it was for his own good, But I think I must have misunderstood. 'Cause what happened that day left a gaping hole, Where there was once love and soul. Chorus Steevee, I'm sorry for the way things have been, I'm sorry I couldn't escape that evil prison. Thirty years I lay trapped inside those walls, Every single day I heard you call. I opened up my mouth to speak, But my circumstances grew ever bleak. Then one day my spirit broke in two, And fighting on was all I couldn't do. The torture was real, the years were tough, And nothing I could do was enough. Frank shattered my whole world, And threw away the pieces. Verse 2 I felt the sting, I heard the cries, Of those who were trapped on the other side. My life was full of pain and woe, But for Steevee's sake I would not let go. I told Frank what he's doing is wrong, But he just laughed loud and long. "Jimbo," he said with a tremor in his voice, "Honestly, he left me no choice." "He needs to understand the truth, That life isn't just fun and youth." But every word just sounded cold, As the prison bars continued to hold. Bridge I tried to resist, I really did, But I was met by one of those gator grins. I froze, couldn't even blink an eye, And like the coward I am, I began to cry. "Steevee!" I called into the fog, But there was no response from the happy little frog. The swamp stood silent, cold and still, And all I knew was fear and guilt. Verse 3 Then one day the prison cracked apart, But freedom couldn't heal my heart. I stepped outside and saw your face, Yet thirty years could not be erased. You looked at me with saddened eyes, Like someone who had already said goodbye. I wanted to tell you all I knew, But no apology could carry me through. Final Chorus Steevee, I'm sorry for the way things have been, I'm sorry I couldn't escape that evil prison. Thirty years I lay trapped inside those walls, Every single day I heard you call. The years are gone, they won't come back, No matter how hard I stay on track. And though I'm free and standing here, I still carry every year. Frank shattered my whole world, And threw away the pieces. Now all that's left are memories, And a friendship that still bleeds. Outro So if you hear this song someday, Know I never chose to walk away. I fought as long as I could do, But in the end I lost me too. The stream still flows beneath the sky, The fireflies still drift on by. And somewhere deep inside the fog, I still remember the happy little frog.
