Kagami: Hello♪ Looks like it’s our turn again. Rio: W-well, yeah. Last time we talked about games, so I thought I’d give it a try. Right now, I’m playing Dragon Quest III with the concept of “forming a party using people and characters I met through Suno.” More specifically: Nonniman-san, Suno-kun, Kirin-san, and Dr. Wirede kindly joined as the merchant♪ Kagami: Thank you so much to everyone who agreed to take part♪ Rio: In the end, the party became heavily biased toward Nonniman-related characters… Actually, Kirin-san might be the only normal human left in the group… But oh well! Kagami: At that point, it might’ve been easier to just make a full Nonniman party. Rio: Well, it’s not like I completely understand all the Nonniman characters anyway. And while I’m really enjoying writing the diary entries, I’m honestly worried because their personalities and ways of speaking have changed a lot. Kagami: Well… people change depending on their circumstances. Maybe it’s easier to think of them as completely different people who just happen to share the same names. Rio: Hmm… I’ve seriously been considering posting just the opening section on my blog first to see what people think. Also, I made the hero a girl, and with this party setup, it somehow feels like a reverse harem, which is kind of funny. Kagami: Well, everyone is handsome♪ Rio: And the best part is that it feels absolutely impossible for any romance to happen♪ Kagami: Randomly creating romantic relationships could cause all kinds of problems after all. Rio: Exactly. And honestly, writing romance scenes is embarrassing too. Kagami: Even though you’ve spent years playing games using Shigure-chan’s name♪ Rio: Wait, isn’t naming the hero after yourself and naming the priest or mage after someone you like a universal experience!? Kagami: Maybe not the exact classes, but I think a lot of people do that. And apparently, forgetting to erase that save file before lending the game to a friend is also a pretty common source of embarrassment… Rio: Just imagining that makes my face burn… Kagami: I’m sure it becomes a fond memory eventually♪ Though in your case with Shigure-chan, the meaning behind it feels a little different. Rio: Yeah… Realistically, there was almost no chance I could ever meet her in real life, and I never knew when I’d see her again in dreams either. So back in my chuuni phase, I think I believed: “At least in Dragon Quest, we can stay together.” Kagami: Looking back on it, that’s a pretty unusual way to recover. Rio: True. Even if we could be together in a game, I still couldn’t meet her in reality. But I think that time was necessary for me to keep facing reality back then. Kagami: No matter what form it took, I’m just happy you chose to keep living. Rio: Oh, and… this suddenly reminded me of something. I remember seeing an old Flash story once about someone who used to play Dragon Quest III using their family’s names. Later, that family fell apart because of conflicts and bad relationships… But one day, they loaded the game again and found the old save data still there, and it made them cry. Kagami: Saying “Flash” might reveal your age a little. Rio: I’m not exactly hiding it. And somehow, I really like the idea that Dragon Quest III became a symbol of the time when their family was still happy together. Kagami: Yeah. Sometimes things like that can even become a reason to keep living. The power of stories and games really shouldn’t be underestimated. Rio: Honestly, around this time last year, I was basically living with the mindset of: “I can’t die until I watch the final episode of Kamen Rider Gavv!” Kagami: That might be a little dramatic… Rio: Anyway… I guess this was basically a story about why Dragon Quest III is still my favorite game ever… …Wasn’t it? Kagami: P-probably. Though most of this ended up being about naming characters. Rio: It doesn’t feel that long when you read it, but turning it into a song actually makes it pretty long… I still have no idea what the proper amount of dialogue is! Kagami: W-well, I think it’s fine♪ Rio: Hmm… I still feel like there’s so much more I want to talk about, but let’s stop here for now! Thank you for listening until the end♪ Kagami: And may today and tomorrow be wonderful days for all of you♪
