Genesis Chapter 3 (Encore)

V5

(Verse 1) In the Garden, fair and wide, The Lord had placed His pride, Adam and Eve, man and wife, Walked in love, free from strife. Serpent slithers, subtle voice, Temptation's poisonous choice, "God said, 'You shall not eat' Of every tree's delight?" Eve, deceived by words so smooth, Took the fruit, broke God's truth, Adam, with her hand in hand, Began to taste what he should not stand. (Chorus) We fell, we fell, In sin we dwell, The Garden's gate closed, Our hearts were exposed. (Verse 2) Shame replaced their naked joy, Eyes opened wide to employ, The knowledge of good and ill, Their souls felt the chill. "Who told you that you're bare?" The Lord asked, love and care, Yet justice must be served, For disobedience preferred. Curses fell like bitter rain, Adam's sweat for bread obtained, Eve's pain in childbearing true, Enmity with serpent's brood to pursue. (Bridge) Clothed in leaves that wither fast, Fled from God, their sacred past, Hidden by the fig tree's shade, But heard His voice, "Where are you?" (Chorus) We hid, we hid, From love and light we fled, Our nakedness exposed, In our hearts, a darkness rose. (Outro) Yet hope remains, a promise made, Eternal life will be displayed, The Seed of Woman will crush, The serpent's head beneath the rush.
