Heavy Waters - Lost and Found Version
The being, to be, is precious Yet failures weigh upon the soul to recall Let me return to God, undone and endless In a world starved of joy, gripped in entropy I slighted the call to charity, turned aside, looked away too often Should I surrender myself until nothing remains? Empty of treasure, and no claims. No, spirit must belong. God signs His name in heart-shaped cardioid. Cast me into the sea of forget Break my soul on heavy waters Let me cross the river Styx and forget my sins And I recall He who grasps his life will lose it in the void Clinging to fading striving as galaxies unwind He who loses his life for Christ will find it. Pouring goodness into others. In this vast cosmos, solitude grows cold Kindness exacts its depth—withholding starves the spirit Cast me in the sea of forget break my soul on heavy waters The practical reality is the illusion That leaves the self in seclusion For the meaning of life must be this: A social existence. Do not harden your heart. Cast me in the sea of forget break my soul on heavy waters Let me cross the river Styx and forget my sins I could never craft God's subtle, sure beauty Cathartic to behold, quiet and profound I need more. I would sell my kingdom . And now I know the path to eternity. Love is immortality. Only laughter could calm The longing deep within To return to what I recall And what whispers of home It's not up among the stars, it's with God where my heart belongs. Cast me in the sea of forget break my soul on heavy waters My own deeds, I lament Let me return to God, undone and endless— No longer clinging, no longer apart, But poured out, discovered, in the boundless One The cosmos large, far, and forever Could I ever lose my sense of wonder. The student seeks the master who points the way up the mountain here is what I say: God keep me. So break my soul on heavy waters break my soul on heavy waters Let me be pure. break my soul on heavy waters break my soul on heavy waters
