The Day Our World Ends

V4.5

The sun is out, it is a beautiful day... The wind is soft, birds are singing... But my phone is dead... No signal, no Internet... I knock on my neighbor's door, No one answers, no one there, I look down the road, People on the street, cars everywhere! What does it mean? I can't be sure, A creeping dread I shouldn't ignore, I walk down the road and see, Everyone is packing and wants to flee! This is the day our world ends, No more prayers, no amends. It came too fast, we weren't prepared, And now we run, broken and scared. I see a woman running by, I ask here where she's headed and why, "What are you doing? We are fleeing to the West, Jump into your car for your own best!" I listen and can hear a distant growl, Like a beast with a mechanical howl, I dress up and jump on my motorbike, To the motorway on my impromptu hike. I can see the motorway burning from afar, All the cars are burning, no one got very far, I take a field track and speed to the west, No one blocks my way, I make no rest. This is the day our world ends, No more prayers, no amends. It came too fast, we weren't prepared, And now we run, broken and scared. I make no pause and drive like mad, Suddenly a flash ignites the sky, I almost fall from my bike, then turn back, From the city, a fireball rises high. This is the day our world ends, No more prayers, no amends. It came too fast, we weren't prepared, And now we run, broken and scared. Everyone is talking peace... But they all want war... The clash of systems is drawing near... So don't feel at ease, And try to safe what you hold dear...
