Night falls on the lonely street Rain is falling on his coat Someone sits beside a door With no place left to go Torn old shirt in winter wind Shaking hands beneath the light People pass and never see One lost soul inside the night Who can see the poor tonight Standing on the edge of life Who can hear the silent cry Fading in the cold dark night Who can see the poor tonight In a world that turns away Lord, please teach my heart to love Someone lost along the way Once he had a simple dream One warm home and daily bread Someone sitting by his side Peaceful nights and tears not shed Then the storm of life came down Took away his brighter days Now he sits alone and still Waiting in the evening rain Who can see the poor tonight Standing on the edge of life Who can hear the silent cry Fading in the cold dark night Who can see the poor tonight In a world that turns away Lord, please teach my heart to love Someone lost along the way Do not turn and walk away When a brother calls your name Just one little act of love Can warm up the coldest rain In those tired and broken eyes Jesus looks at me again In this world of empty hearts Let my heart learn love again Who can see the poor tonight Standing on the edge of life Who can hear the silent cry Fading in the cold dark night Who can see the poor tonight Lord, please open up my eyes Let me see my brother there Where the lonely shadow lies One more day is fading now City lights are growing dim Let one little flame of love Shine for those forgotten men Who can see the poor tonight Please don’t leave him in the cold For inside the smallest soul Jesus waits beside the road [Clean electric guitar outro] [Soft synth pad] [Gentle drum fade] Who can see the poor tonight Let there still be love
