Tribal Cheerleaders
--- Got the song put together and the first generations sounded "ok", but were also missing that special "something". Since it was a song that was including chants and such, I remembered that doing a "live version" is always an option, so I added that to the front of the musical prompt and that was the key ingredient! Really like being able to hear the crowd, and it makes the yelling of the words "Stomp" / "Clap" / "Breathe" far more effective and make more sense . . . lol. Did have to change "lead" to "leed" to make sure it pronounced the line correctly (it likes to say "led" instead). Really feels like the entire band is represented here. The persona has proven to be rather flexible and since it has a blend of male and female vocals, it's fun to extract those out as needed. Quite the departure from the other songs with the persona, but I think that's a good thing and it's nice to add some variety to the "album". ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Low, distant drums… heartbeat → hand drums → stomps → layered claps building in uneven patterns] [Verse 1] [Male Vocals - Anaconda – rhythmic chant / spoken] Stomp—clap—echo in the chest Feel that rhythm, no time to rest No megaphone, no polished cheer Just breath and bone and bodies here Paint the lines, not red but raw Teeth in rhythm, pulse in jaw We don’t smile—we bare, we bite We don’t cheer—we ignite [Pre-Chorus] [group layering in] Feel it rise—feel it pound From the dirt up through the ground No formation, no routine— Just the space in in-between [Chorus] [full tribal chant] Hey—HEY—call it loud We are more than just a crowd Beat the ground—feel it leed— This is more than schoolyard speed No scripts, no clean lines No perfect synchronized signs We don’t fake, we don’t plead— We are TRIBAL CHEERLEADERS [Verse 2] [Slap Bass groove enters subtly] [Overlapping Vocals] [Male Vocals - Spider - low, rhythmic] Heartbeat bass under skin Let the chaos pull you in [Male Vocals - Anaconda (overlapping)] No scoreboard, no winning side Just the surge you cannot hide Every voice a jagged flame No two echoes sound the same [Pre-Chorus] [bigger, louder] Feel it crack—feel it bend Every rule you used to defend No more quiet, no more clean— Break the mold of what’s been seen [Chorus] [heavier, more chaotic] Hey—HEY—call it wild Not controlled, not reconciled Beat the ground—shake the air— Let them see what’s really there No masks, no rehearsed Let it sloppy, let it burst We don’t follow, we don’t leed— We are TRIBAL CHEERLEADERS [Musical Interlude] [Full percussion breakdown: djembes, taikos, body slaps, foot stomps, sticks on metal, call-and-response chants. Rhythm shifts time signatures, building intensity like a ritual.] [Bridge] [Female Vocals – haunting contrast] [everything drops to a low pulse] They told us how to stand in line How to cheer at the perfect time But something deeper wouldn’t stay— It clawed its rhythm out to play [soft chant builds behind her] Maybe we were never meant To fit inside that neat intent [Breakdown → Build] [single drum… pause… two drums… pause… entire group slams back in] [Final Chorus] [explosive, communal] Hey—HEY—hear the sound Not above but all around Every voice, every need— Now we’re something real indeed No more quiet, no more screen No more “fit the in-between” We don’t ask, we don’t concede— We are TRIBAL CHEERLEADERS [Outro] [chants dissolve into breath, stomps slow to heartbeat] Stomp… Clap… Breathe… [final unified shout] HEY.
