She knew danger was drawing near. Yue Bai had trained for seven thousand years. She could already maintain a complete human form. While searching through ancient scrolls, she discovered a passage. And plucked the Wuxiang Heavenly Peach. A silver bell rang without warning. Every rune in the garden lit up. A calm male voice sounded from behind her. "Put it down." Yue Bai did not turn around. A flash of silver light cut through a jade pillar and sealed the exit. She cast an illusion. Several images of herself scattered in different directions. The real Yue Bai seized the opening and rushed toward the exit. Suddenly, a silver chain shot up from the ground. It caught her true shadow. Yue Bai was yanked back onto the stone steps. She summoned foxfire and tore a gap in the barrier. She had a chance to escape. Yet she charged toward the peach once more. Silver light raced toward the fruit. Yue Bai threw herself in front of it. The light pierced her shoulder. Her human form faltered. A snow-white fox tail emerged behind her. She did not look at her wound. Her eyes remained fixed on the peach. The man tightened the silver chain. Then caught the falling fruit. He asked her a question. "Is one peach really worth all this?" Yue Bai lifted her head. "To you, it's just a treasure of Heaven." "To me, it's different." The man demanded to know why. Yue Bai said nothing. She could not let Heaven discover that Silver Snow existed. Nor could she allow her sister to become a target. The man placed the peach inside a jade case. "My name is Bai Chen." "I am Heaven's divine hunter." "From this moment on, I decide what happens to you." The silver chain glowed once more. Yue Bai was taken away from the sacred realm. She looked back one last time at the empty jade altar. Back in the snowy mountains of the human world, Silver Snow was still waiting for her sister. She believed her sister had only gone out. She had simply gone to find something for her. The snow kept falling. For a long, long time. But outside the door, no footsteps ever came.
