Needle bouncing on the glass, bleeding into red, Rev-limiter screaming all the words I never said. Jaw locked tight, grinding gears in my teeth, There’s a hurricane-engine buried underneath. It’s pitch black outside, the world has disappeared, I’m just a dashboard-glow... and the thing I’ve always feared. The devices are humming in a digital choir, My skin is radiating, I’m a house on fire. One more mile, one more line to go, But the red on the gauge is the only thing I know. The race is on, and I’m hunting for the goal, Before the sleep comes and swallows up my soul. The bed is a finish line I’m trying to avoid, In a room full of noise, in a static-filled void. Yeah, the devices are humming... (Humming...) Radiating heat, yeah, the room is getting hot, Giving everything I have for a white-screen spot. It’s a blinding desert, it’s a snowstorm light, I’m burning up the oxygen in the middle of the night. If I don't finish now... if I don't make the break... The morning is a ghost that I'm not prepared to wake. Early rise. Heavy eyes. The redline drops... but the mind still flies. I missed the goal. The screen stays white. And the hum... Goes on... All night.
