We Almost Were [Verse 1] You left your coat beside the door, your shadow sleeping on the floor. I still remember how you looked at me like tomorrow was guaranteed. [Refrain] We almost were something that could last. We almost were more than the past. We almost were. [Verse 2] Your hand in mine, the evening rain, two quiet hearts tangled in flames We never needed words to know how much we loved what we couldn't hold. [Refrain] We almost were something that could last. We almost were more than the past. We almost were. [Outro] Now you're somewhere I can't follow, and I'm living with tomorrow. But sometimes when the night is still— I swear I feel you near. We almost were.
