After an uneventful eleven-hour hitchhike from Managua, Julian arrived in San José. His journey took him through the historic town of Rivas and the lush parks of the Cañas region. Exhausted from the long journey, he was looking for a place to play. It was in a leafy neighborhood that he met a father and his two young sons, who gave him a warm glimpse into the culture of “Pura Vida.” ******************************************* © Copyright (2025) ******************************************* Verse 1 In San José, the green hills softly rise, A gentle warmth appears beneath bright skies. The National Theatre stands with marble grace, Reflecting beauty in this lovely place. I see old monuments, where tales are told, Of freedoms bravely won, both new and old. Chorus Bright sun shines so true. Pure green vistas new. Happy spirits too. Life's blessings breaking through. Verse 2 A grand old Cathedral's bells softly chime, Marking the passage of precious, passing time. I walk the Central Park's serene expanse, Observing nature's joyful, daily dance. The air is filled with cheerful, humming sound, Where peaceful simple rituals are found. Chorus Bright sun shines so true. Pure green vistas new. Happy spirits too. Life's blessings breaking through. Verse 3 The Gold Museum shows its ancient art, Leaving all worries far behind my thought. I see the bustling Central Market's maze, Filled with rich colors, through sunny daily haze. These strong local customs feel so truly fine, A special feeling, wonderfully divine. Chorus Bright sun shines so true. Pure green vistas new. Happy spirits too. Life's blessings breaking through. Verse 4 A kind local man and his boys smiled wide, Showing their homes where daily joys reside. We shared quick laughs and a simple warm dish, A great welcome, better than any true wish. They spoke of their lives with such proud regard, Building with me a true, strong loyal bond. Chorus Bright sun shines so true. Pure green vistas new. Happy spirits too. Life's blessings breaking through.
