[INTRO bright sleigh bells, soft piano riff, gentle “doo-doo” humming from the singer] [VERSE 1 light acoustic guitar, soft bells in the background] Snowflakes falling on the empty street Little halos round the traffic lights that blink and breathe You come laughing through the winter air Red-nosed, rosy-cheeked, with tinsel in your hair [PRE-CHORUS 1 slightly bigger drums, glockenspiel doubles the chords] And every step we take in the snow Feels like a tiny miracle glow The whole town fades, it’s just you and me Wrapped up in this simple melody [CHORUS full band, bright sleigh bells on every beat] There’s a jingle in your smile tonight Like a Christmas bell that’s shining light Every little laugh you share Puts some magic in the air We don’t need a diamond star Just this old guitar and my heart You’re my favourite Christmas style I hear Christmas in your smile [VERSE 2 bring it back down a bit, keep sleigh bells soft] Shop fronts closing, but the lights still gleam Candy canes and paper crowns in every window scene You slip your mittened hand into mine Suddenly the cold feels perfectly fine [PRE-CHORUS 2 add a tiny harmony line on last two bars] And all the noise just falls far away When you turn and softly say “Let’s stay out here till the snow is gone And sing our own December song” [CHORUS repeat, slightly fuller vocal harmonies] There’s a jingle in your smile tonight Like a Christmas bell that’s shining light Every little laugh you share Puts some magic in the air We don’t need a diamond star Just this old guitar and my heart You’re my favourite Christmas style I hear Christmas in your smile [BRIDGE gentle breakdown, piano + voice, bells drop to subtle shakes] We could lose the presents, lose the tree Take the tinsel, take the TV If I’ve got your hand in mine That’s my perfect Christmastime [BRIDGE TAG add harmony and soft glockenspiel] Let the church bells ring, let the choirs all sing But the sweetest sound to me Is your quiet little “stay with me” [CHORUS big final, layered harmonies, extra sleigh bell fills] There’s a jingle in your smile tonight Like a Christmas bell that’s shining light Every little laugh you share Puts some magic in the air We don’t need a diamond star Just this old guitar and my heart You’re my favourite Christmas style I hear Christmas in your smile [OUTRO strip back to piano and soft bells, gentle humming] Snow keeps falling, soft and slow Streetlights fade to candle glow Hold me close a little while
