[Style: Fast, upbeat folk metal; lively female folk vocals; galloping metal rhythm guitars, fiddle, mandolin, whistles and pounding drums. Big tavern-style singalong chorus. Energetic and humorous. Feature an extended dueling electric guitar and violin solo with increasingly fast back-and-forth runs.] [Verse 1 – Female Folk Vocal] Down from the mountain at quarter to nine, Came a dragon with a hunger and a terrible spine, But he wasn’t after maidens, wasn’t hunting for gold, He’d heard about a tournament from a traveler of old. He squeezed through the doorway with a thunderous CRASH, Dropped ten silver pieces in a little leather stash, Said, “Fetch me some shoes, and make ’em size forty-nine! And point me toward the alley—tonight that lane is mine!” [Pre-Chorus] The villagers scattered, the barkeep hit the floor, But the dragon grabbed a bowling ball And gave a mighty ROAR! [Chorus – Big Folk Metal Singalong] DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Fire in his eyes! Rolling down the timber lane Like thunder from the skies! DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Hear the people sing! Ten pins fall before him— ALL HAIL THE BOWLING KING! [Verse 2 – Female Folk Vocal] His first throw hit the gutter and he scorched it out of shame, His second hit the ceiling and they never found the frame, His third went through the snack bar, smashed the nachos and the beer, And the terrified attendant said, “Perhaps you aim from HERE!” He curled his claws around the ball and stared along the lane, Smoke was rising from his nose like an approaching hurricane, Three careful steps, a mighty swing, the whole damn building shook— The ball went rolling straight and true… And every bowler looked! [Pre-Chorus] It rumbled like a wagon, It thundered like a drum, The dragon raised his wings and cried, “YOU BASTARDS BETTER RUN!” [Chorus] DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Fire in his eyes! Rolling down the timber lane Like thunder from the skies! DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Hear the people sing! Ten pins fall before him— ALL HAIL THE BOWLING KING! [Instrumental Break – Dueling Guitar & Violin] [Violin begins with a rapid folk melody] [Electric guitar answers with a fast harmonized metal run] [Violin responds faster] [Guitar answers with sweeping arpeggios] [Rapid guitar/violin call-and-response] [Both instruments accelerate into synchronized neoclassical runs] [Final blazing unison melody – guitar bends upward while violin holds a screaming high note] [Verse 3] Strike after strike, the dragon couldn’t miss, The crowd that once had fled the hall was raising mugs in bliss, They danced upon the tables, they sang beneath his wings, While somewhere underneath the lanes The shattered plumbing sings. At midnight came the final frame, one strike to win it all, The dragon took his favorite ball and proudly stood up tall, He rolled it like a cannon shot—the pins flew through the air! He turned around triumphantly… And set his beard on fire. [Bridge – Building Faster] Raise your mugs! Raise your horns! Let the bowling legend soar! From the mountains to the valleys They will tell forevermore— [Final Chorus – Full Band, Double-Time] DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Fire in his eyes! Rolling down the timber lane Like thunder from the skies! DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Let every tavern ring! Ten pins fall before him— ALL HAIL THE BOWLING KING! DRAGON GOES A’BOWLING! Hear that monster roar! Nine pins tumble— ONE STILL STANDS! So he burns it to the floor! [Final Hit] [Female Vocal, laughing] “Still counts.”
