Verse 1 I been tryna say it clear but it twist somehow, what I mean get lost when it leave my mouth, and they hear somethin’ else, now we driftin’ out, like we speakin’ two languages back and forth. I don’t wanna argue, I don’t wanna fight, I don’t wanna turn this into wrong or right, I just wanna keep it honest and keep it light, but it never quite land how I thought it might. And I feel that tension build up inside, like I gotta defend, like I gotta decide if I’m gonna push back or just let it slide, but I don’t wanna lose what matters most. ‘Cause I know what it is to be misunderstood, to be judged off a moment that don’t look good, to be painted a way that ain’t really you, so I try to remember that when I respond. It’s not always easy, I won’t pretend, there’s times I just wanna close it in, walk away from it all, cut off, don’t bend, say “I’m done” and just leave it there. But something deeper keep pullin’ me back, sayin’ don’t let your heart react like that, don’t lose who you are just to answer that, stay grounded in love—don’t shift from that. So I pause in the moment, I take a breath, I don’t speak from anger, I don’t react stressed, I just try to stay aligned with what’s best, even when I don’t feel understood. Hook I’ll love when they don’t get me, I won’t pull away, I won’t let confusion make my heart change, I don’t gotta win, I don’t gotta explain, I just walk in love—I stay the same. Through God the Father, I stay in peace, through Jesus my Savior, I don’t hold defeat, through the Spirit that leads, I don’t lose my seat, I’ll love when they don’t get me—I stay free. Verse 2 Sometimes I replay what was said again, try to see where it bent, where it went off track, try to figure out why it didn’t connect, why the words got twisted like that. And I could sit there and build a case, point out every flaw, every little mistake, break down everything they didn’t say the way I meant it—but what would that change? It might prove a point, but it won’t bring peace, it might clear the air, but it won’t release the tension inside that’s tryin’ to speak, that’s sayin’ “choose love over being right.” That’s a hard place to stand sometimes, when you feel like you’re right and they crossed a line, but I’m learnin’ now it ain’t about pride, it’s about keepin’ my heart aligned. Through Jesus Christ, I seen what it means, to be misunderstood on a deeper degree, to be spoken against, to be seen wrongly, and still choose love in the middle of that. That perspective shift me every time, when I feel like reactin’, when I feel like fightin’, I remember His walk, I realign my mind, and I step back into grace again. Through the Spirit I’m checked when I start to drift, when I feel that urge just to answer quick, He slows me down, don’t let me slip into somethin’ I don’t wanna be. And God the Father, You steady my heart, You don’t let me fall when I feel pulled apart, You remind me again who I really are, and I stand in that truth.
