Play to the Thunder βοΈ
The first drop of rain hits the cold window glass, And leaves a dark echo to fade in the past. A thousand bright footsteps move into the night, As I wait at the keys for the storm to take flight. My fingers touch silence, I breathe with the keys, To leave room for the rain as it rides on the breeze. Each droplet a measure, each measure a chord, No longer the master, Iβm chasing the storms lord. The neon pours down over cobblestone streets, Where red, gold, and violet watercolor meets. The headlights stretch out like a brush on the lane, And the grand city shimmers to music and rain. The lightning breaks true and it splits the wide blue, I chase up the keyboard to let it pass true. The deep thunder rolls and I answer below, While the storm plays the window a tune as it goes. So let it fall hard on the slate and the street, Let thunder hold bass and the rain keep the beat. I don't need to lade it or claim it as mine, I'll follow the weather one bar at a time. The downpour grows heavy, the glass is washed clear, The melody shifts when the lightning draws near. Each window a mirror, each rooftop a chime, The musicβs around me and beating in time. I play to the thunder where midnight fires glow, And leave it to lightning to choose where to go. Till the wire and wood and the water are one, And the neon and rhythm are completely undone. The silver is running in streams to the dark, The thunder is rolling, the sky shows a spark. The colors are moving beneath the great rain, And Iβll play till the storm and my soul speaks the same.
