Jay was a green beret, green hat in the red dirt, name that even the enemy set under their breath. didn't make a sound moving, Swift like a Pfeiffer through the wire, no man ever saw how that boy fought fire. when they tried to box his boys in, he wouldn't let'em die, rigged traps with bloody hands while the wounded stay alive. Callin' and thunder overhead, keeping his promise in the night kept his platoon breathing while the whole world was fightin' he moved like a viper, quiet and fast covered everyone of them boys to the last. one more tour, one more go, one more prayer to say, last scene headin' for the tree line, then the radio faded. final mission on his final days, different men but same green band, his laid down cover while they ran for the rally point. took heavy fire near the clearing, said they saw him turned, towards the tree line, towards that smoke, and signal was gone they had to leave him, they had no choice, chopper couldn't stay, declared missing in action at the end of the day. mama still got his beret, platoon still says his name and down in the tall Grass, nothing's been the same. he moved like a viper, swift through the pines, left behind, but he never left behind to this day, to this day,to this day. He's still missin' at the tree line
