Banyan Thorns - The Forest Takes What I Cannot Carry
I step where the moss remembers Where no name is needed to be known The trees do not ask why I’ve come Only offer their silence as stone Each breath is a branch unfolding Each sorrow a leaf I lay down My bones echo birdsong and thunder My grief makes no sound The forest takes what I cannot carry It lays it beneath the fern And in return, I carry the stillness That teaches the living to yearn There is death in the rot of the alder There is life in the tongue of the wind There is peace in the breath between heartbeats There is me, where the forest begins I do not walk alone Even when no one is near The soil knows my sorrow The branches hold my fear The forest takes what I cannot carry I leave it with root and rain And when I return to the path again I no longer walk with pain Let the trees remember me. Let the moss forgive me. Let the wind reclaim me. Let the silence teach me how to stay.
